Grow Kit “Pro” Guide
The "Stack & Grow" Method (Mess-Free Jute)
Welcome! Follow these simple steps to grow your own super nutrients. This method uses "Weighted Germination" to force the roots into the jute pad for a healthy, thick harvest.
Step 1: Hydrate the Pads
Jute needs to be damp like a sponge, not swimming in water.
Place your Hole Trays inside your No-Hole Trays to catch drips.
Soak the jute pads in the tray, then pour out all excess water.
The Check: Press the pad with your finger. Water should well up around your fingertip but should not be standing in the tray.
Step 2: Sow Your Seeds
Sprinkle one seed packet evenly across the damp jute pad.
Spread seeds out to the edges—try to avoid big clumps.
Step 3: The Weighted Stack
We build a "tower" to press the seeds into the damp jute. This mimics the pressure of soil.
Stack your 4 trays in this exact order (Bottom to Top):
Base: Place No-Hole Tray #1 on a flat surface.
Level 1: Place Hole Tray #1 (with seeds) inside the Base.
Level 2: Place Hole Tray #2 (with seeds) DIRECTLY ON TOP of the seeds in Level 1.
Yes, the tray bottom will touch the seeds below. This is intentional!
Lid: Place No-Hole Tray #2 DIRECTLY ON TOP of the seeds in Level 2.
The Weight: Place a can of beans (15oz) or a heavy jar inside the top tray.
Step 4: The Blackout (Days 1–3)
Leave the weighted tower in a cool, dark place (like a cupboard corner).
Do not water. The weight traps the humidity inside.
Check on Day 3: Lift the trays. If you see yellow shoots (½ inch long) pushing the trays up, they are ready!
Step 5: Unstack & Light (Day 4)
Unstack: Separate the trays.
Rinse: If there are seed hulls sticking to the bottom of your trays, give them a quick rinse.
Setup Stations:
Nest Hole Tray #1 into No-Hole Tray #1.
Nest Hole Tray #2 into No-Hole Tray #2.
Light: Place both stations in a sunny windowsill or under the grow light. The yellow leaves will turn green within 24 hours.
Step 6: Bottom Watering
Never water from the top—this causes mold!
Lift the top Hole Tray slightly.
Pour approx. ¼ cup (60ml) of water into the bottom tray.
Tip: You just want enough water to cover the bottom grooves of the tray.
Lower the top tray back down. The jute will drink the water up.
Repeat daily (or whenever the jute feels dry).
Troubleshooting
White Fuzz? If you see tiny white hairs on the roots, that is likely "Root Hair," not mold! It means your plant is thirsty. Water them, and the fuzz will vanish.
Sad/Droopy Plants? They are thirsty! Bottom water them, and they will perk up in 2 hours.
